This course is a perfect introduction to relief printing and is open to all, from complete beginners to those with more experience.
To add a seasonal touch to the experience students may decide to print cards rather than paper prints. Either way we hope you will enjoy the opportunity to develop or learn new skills and potentially create gifts for Christmas.
The studio is a low-toxic environment with dedicated printmaking facilities for professional hands‐on learning. Students benefit from the diversity of attendees, taught by internationally renowned printmaking artists at a central location, offering a unique educational experience in London.
There is a maximum of eight students per course, materials are included and we advise that you book early to avoid disappointment.

Abstract Painting
Course Code: SC2104041 Tutor: Kate Dunn Course Dates: Monday - Friday, 15th - 19th August 2022 Days: 5 Times: 9.45am - 4.45pm Experience Level: Ages 18+, Beginner+ Fee: £335 Location: Art Academy London, 165A Mermaid Court, SE1 1HR From: £335.00This course has been created to be both practical and discussion led, the aim is for us to learn ways of looking, speaking and making. The central focus is to question our conditioning; how historical, political, social, gendered and other factors have influenced our relation to the visual world around us, and therefore our relation to visual art. The general daily structure of this course will be as follows: every day we will begin with an introduction to visual and theoretical references. Then we will then paint until mid-afternoon, at which point we will have a discussion about each participant’s work. The last day of the course the participants will make a self-directed painting for half of the day, after lunch we will do a crit on the work, in which everyone will receive comments from the group and have a chance to respond.
