April 10th, 2019

Digital Short Courses

Our summer term of short courses starts on 23rd April – don’t miss out on our fantastic evening and weekend courses.

You’ll learn from expert artists in small classes, giving you the benefit of hands-on tuition across a range of courses in Painting, Drawing, Sculpture and Print. Find out more about our short courses here or take a look at some of our summer term course highlights below.

Digital short courses

You can explore a range of different techniques with our five-week evening Digital courses: create ‘hand-drawn’ 2D animation in Photoshop with our Digital Animation course; learn the basics of editing and creating imagery with our Introduction to Photoshop Techniques course; and find out how to get the most out of your Digital SLR in Digital Photography for Beginners.

Printmaking short courses

We’ve got some great evening courses taking place in our dedicated print studio this term, suitable for all levels! We teach a range of relief printing techniques where you’ll focus on form and texture, including Linoleum Reduction and Multiple Woodcut, and also have a variety of etching courses such as Photopolymer Etching and Etching: Hard Ground to Aquatint. Remember – all materials are included for our printmaking courses.

Sculpture short courses

If you’re a beginner, our Introduction to Sculpture is an ideal way to build some core technical skills and explore different materials and approaches. Alternatively, you can choose to focus on specific mediums with our Stone Carving course, which teaches basic carving techniques as you work to create a finished piece, or Sculpting in Metal, where you’ll learn the practical skills and knowledge to work with metal tools and machinery in a workshop environment. We also have courses in Hand Built Ceramics and Kiln Formed Glass.

An ideal way to explore a range of artistic methods and media, Friday Mix is a place for you to discover what you enjoy most and develop your creativity. Over 10 weeks, you’ll explore painting, sculpture, drawing and printmaking. This is a great taster course and an excellent opportunity to develop new skills, experiment with materials and have fun!
