It’s not too late to book your space on our evening and weekend short courses this summer term, offering high-level tuition across a range of mediums – take a look at some highlights below or click here to view more.

Evening course highlights

Digital SLR Photography (starting 28th May)

A five-week course ideal for those comfortable working with digital SLRs in manual mode. You’ll build on your existing skills and gain a technical overview of how to photograph landscapes, portraits and still lives successfully.

Sculpting in Metal (starting 29th May)

Designed for both beginners and those experienced in metalwork, this five-week course offers you an excellent opportunity to learn how to work with welders, angle grinders, plasma cutters and other machinery in a workshop environment. You’ll then apply this knowledge to make your own metal sculpture.

Etching: Hard Ground to Aquatint (starting 30th May)

This five-week course concentrates on hard-ground (fine line) combined with aquatint (tone) in its various forms. You’ll have the flexibility to work at your own speed and, if you’re a repeat attendee, you can use this course to work on your own etching projects. The course fee covers materials including an etching needle, so you can continue working on your plate outside of class.

Digital Animation (starting 3rd June)

Spend five weeks learning how to create ‘hand drawn’ 2D animation using Photoshop. You’ll finish the course with an understanding of the software and techniques, and a GIF of your animation.

Weekend course highlights

Drawing in Museums (starting 11th May)

Suitable for all levels, this is a wonderful opportunity to lean technical drawing skills in some of London’s best museums. You’ll have the opportunity to draw from sculptures and paintings across a range of collections and genres in this informative an enjoyable five-week course.

Printmaking for Beginners (15th and 16th June)

This in-depth introduction to printmaking is suitable for all levels and is led by experienced printmaker Carol Wilhilde-Justin. Over the weekend, you’ll develop two print editions, starting with a series o multicoloured reduction relief prints on linoleum, before moving onto a second series of hard ground black and white line etchings on zinc.

Portrait Painting (22nd and 23rd June)

Learn something new – or fine-tune your existing skills – in this weekend Portrait Painting course. You’ll learn to see form and colour accurately, and use these skills to better create loose expressive portraits in oil.
