Deputy Art Theory & History Department Leader
PLACEMENT TITLE: Deputy Art Theory & History Department Leader
LOCATION: 165A Borough High Street, London, SE1 1RS
Art Academy London is a young and innovative art school, offering courses that are designed and delivered by expert, practising artists. We were founded in 2000 to offer something different: the best of an old-school atelier combined with the vibrancy and diversity of a contemporary art school. This still differentiates us today.
As an art education charity, we’re passionate about championing art for all, and we think this inclusive approach creates a very special environment. We offer art courses for all levels of skill and need – from pre-degree and undergraduate to evening and short courses.
We are currently looking for a deputy to our Art Theory & History Department Leader. The post-holder will mainly work with our undergraduate and Foundation students, but there is opportunity for the successful applicant to become involved in teaching on our public courses too. The post will involve some teaching up to Level 6 (shared with the Department Leader) as well as acting as a second assessor, participating in module assessment boards. We are currently working towards expanding our offering of degree programmes and the post-holder will have the opportunity to become involved in new programmes (up to Level 7) in the future.
The post holder will hold a higher degree in a related field and have some teaching and assessment experience in FE or HE. The post is part time, likely to involve 90 hrs per academic year (approximately) and is offered on a self-employed contractual basis with a September start.
Art Academy London actively seeks and encourages applications from candidates from diverse backgrounds. For further details and to arrange an informal chat, please forward a CV to darren@artacademy.org.uk by 19 April 2021.
