An inspiring four day course for ages 14-17 providing a skills-based experience and expert tuition in printmaking techniques. The programme is taught by specialist tutors who are also professional, practicing artists. Printmaking is an artistic process based on the principle of transferring images onto another surface, most often paper. Using different mark-making techniques, students will be taken through the basic processes of printmaking techniques. There will be practical demonstrations followed by practical application. Small class numbers allow for plenty of supported one-to-one guidance and ample time for press access for printing application. Students will be encouraged to work from your own source imagery (sketches, magazine cuttings, photos etc) as an inspirational lead-in to producing your prints. Various artists who use, and have used, printmaking in their practice will be referenced as example to the techniques covered in the course.

This is an ideal course for those studying arts subjects who wish to explore the traditional art form of printmaking, create new work for their portfolio, develop new techniques and skills, and further existing abilities in a professional art school environment.

About Your Tutor

ANNABEL CROWTHER

Annabel Crowther is an artist printmaker who principally works in etching. In her practice she uses traditional intaglio printmaking techniques including drypoint, hard ground etching and aquatint, in combination with chine colle and stencil collage processes to create multi-layered prints. Her subjects have most recently been focused on exploring the modern muse through the continuous line of the nude figure. Originally observations of the female form, years of life drawing have informed the character of her prints.

Annabel has taken part in group exhibitions, including The Woolwich Print Fair 2021, where her ‘Dancing Daydreamer’ work was selected as a Collectors Pink by both @young_art_collector and Jeany Cronk, art collector and Co-Founder of Mirabeau wine (sponsor of Woolwich Print Fair 2021). A Print Associate with The Art Academy Print Studio, Annabel teaches short courses in printmaking techniques at The Art Academy London.
