We are currently looking for a Digital Technician. This part-time, forward-facing position is an opportunity for an individual to manage and develop digital facilities within a lively, independent art school. A key element of the position is supporting students using digital media within their Fine Art practice in twice-weekly open access sessions. The post holder will also be responsible for IT support for staff and tutors. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a high level of commitment to students, with some knowledge and/or experience of working with digital media in a Fine Art context.
The post is part-time, three days a week – Mondays, Tuesdays and a third day (negotiable).

We are currently looking for a Wood & Metal Technician. This part-time, forward-facing position is an opportunity for an individual to manage and develop the wood and metal workshop within a lively, independent art school. The post holder will be required to support students using the workshop in twice-weekly open access sessions and is expected to have experience of carpentry, welding and metal-working techniques and, ideally, have the knowledge and/ or experience of Sculptural practice.
The post is part-time and term time only (approx 34 weeks) and is offered on a self-employed, contractual basis, £12.50 per hour, 16 hours per week (2 days; Mondays & Tuesdays).

This is a cross-departmental administrative role that supports teams in executing and monitoring a variety of communications strategies, internally and externally. This person will work as part of a busy Marketing and Communications team and with the Development team to provide information to new and prospective students, drive audience engagement, sell course places and engage potential patrons, donors and funders with AAL. Reporting to and working closely with the Marketing and Communications Manager, as well as with the Director of Development on specific aspects of the role.
This role requires a level of interaction with staff, students, tutors, department leads, visiting lecturers and potential patrons.

The Public Programme Administrator will work with their line manager, the Public Programme Manager, and the Public Programme Coordinator to facilitate the delivery of a high-quality programme of fine art courses by Art Academy London (AAL). They will assist with the planning and delivery of public courses and any public facing activities and undertake administrative work relating to the tutors, students and models involved in these courses. One of their main responsibilities will be providing administrative support for our Young Artist courses, as well as assessing any SEND needs and providing support as necessary.

This customer service focused receptionist will maintain a welcoming and efficient service desk making the best use of systems and resources to maximise the student experience. They will provide information and support to all students (both prospective and existing) across the Academy’s Higher Education, internally awarded and public programmes. They will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the Academy office, working with the Director of Operations to troubleshoot (and where possible) resolve any staff IT issues. The Finance Director will be a dedicated accountant responsible for AAL’s financial functions, internal controls, and related tasks necessary for the proper administration of the charity. In addition, the Finance Director will be Clerk to the Board of Trustees which will involve some secretariat services and advice on governance, constitutional, procedural, and regulatory matters to the AAL’s Board of Trustees.

The Technician manages the effective and smooth running of all daytime courses within The Art Academy. They are responsible, in conjunction with the Facilities Manager and Director of Operations, for all spaces within the Art Academy being fit for purpose as teaching spaces, project spaces, storage and communal areas. They are responsible for the provision of class materials and equipment via the technician requirement system and are the main point of contact for student and tutor enquiries. The Technician will work in collaboration with the Operations and Academic team to ensure regular feedback is acted upon.

They will help the AAL receptionist to deliver key student services such as shop sales, printing and equipment loans, and maintain the AAL communal area/s, ensuring spaces are tidy and well-stocked with the relevant amenities. They will provide support to the wider AAL staff team by performing such tasks as distributing post, processing invoices as required, handling petty cash, purchasing stationery and sundries, maintaining the coffee machine, data entry and maintaining accurate records, participating in team meetings, and helping to organise Open Days and other events as required.

There will be an opportunity to develop knowledge and experience of a wide range of art materials, mediums and techniques, and if a pre-existing arts qualification is held there may be an opportunity to gain teaching assistant experience. This person will help to collate images for storytelling purposes across social media platforms, and also to create ads that target new students for our courses.
Working closely with the Director of Development, this person will also help and assist in developing, managing and maintaining a programme of fundraising activities and initiatives. This person will be responsible for the administration of said activities, ensuring the campaigns meet their objectives and are marketed to the correct audiences. There will also be the opportunity to engage with a wide variety of external stakeholders such as suppliers, industry contacts, other educational establishments and art institutions.

RESPONSIBLE FOR: Teaching Art History/Theory to academic students at AAL
The Art History/Theory tutor will deliver art history and theory modules to students on one or more of the Academy’s academic programmes. They will work with the Programme Leaders for each of the respective Academic programmes and under the direction of the Art Theory & History Department Leader, in designing and developing the art history/theory curriculums and modes of delivery.
Initially, the position would be to cover the maternity leave of one of our current tutors. The role would run from 21 February through to the end of 2022. However, from September 2022, we are introducing a new BA (Hons) in Contemporary Portraiture, and from September 2023, a new BA (Hons) Distance Learning in Fine Art and potentially an MA in Fine Art, so the position is very likely to continue beyond the end of 2022, with potential teaching up to Level 7.
We currently offer a BA (Hons) in Fine Art and a Foundation Degree in Contemporary Portraiture, as well as a Foundation year. The post-holder will work with our undergraduate students. The post will involve teaching up to Level 6 (shared with the Department Leader) as well as acting as a second assessor, participating in module assessment boards.
The post holder will hold a higher degree in a related field and have some teaching and assessment experience in FE or HE. The post is part-time, likely to involve 90 hrs per academic year (approximately) and is offered on a self-employed, contractual basis.

The Digital Technician will have responsibility for ensuring the smooth operation of all digital facilities, across all its sites, at AAL, ensuring digital equipment is maintained, functioning and available to staff, students and tutors, as required. In liaison with the Operations and Academic teams, the successful candidate will act as the in-house expert on all IT-related matters, offering technical support and expertise, liaising with suppliers and developers, and keeping AAL management abreast of developments in this field as appropriate.
They will provide induction and training for staff, students and tutors in the proficient use of AAL systems. They will run twice-weekly Open Access sessions, providing technical support to students and tutors in all matters relating to digital and new media work.
