Join us in congratulating Theo Taylor on winning the Academy Portrait Prize with his portrait of his mother. Theo, who is a Stage 2 Contemporary Portraiture student, also won The Royal Institute of Oil Painters Portrait Prize with his entry, and will exhibit in the show in November. The prizes were judged by Tim Benson, Principal of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, who found Theo’s portrait to be an example of good draughtsmanship that reflected the mood of the sitter in its colours and palette. We had an incredible array of entries this year and want to thank all the students who entered.
