3 Year Fine Art Diploma – Full Time
This is a BA degree equivalent programme of intense professional study. Choose this course if you want to make Fine Art your career or a large part of your life. The Diploma offers a wide range of flexible pathways, from traditional figurative skills through to contemporary digital skills. The course includes elements of art history, contextual and critical study, in-depth personal creative development and professional opportunities. The course entails three or four fully tutored study days in the Academy and one day of personal project study.
5 Year Fine Art Diploma – Part Time
Choose the Part Time Diploma if you want all the elements of the Fine Art Diploma but have limited time. This course usually takes 5 years to complete (some students complete it in less time where previous study can be taken into account) and involves two tutored study days a week in the Academy and, in some terms, 5-7 hours personal project study.
2 Year Contemporary Portrait Diploma
This course suits those who are sure they want to focus on developing skills in Portrait and Figure Painting. The course is broader than many portrait courses and incorporates creative and experimental projects and painting, together with the study of historical and critical components, to help to develop each student’s individual visual language.
2 Year Figurative Sculpture Diploma
The Figurative Sculpture Diploma (FSD) is a unique two-year bespoke course, offered by the Art Academy. Students follow a structured programme of study that gives them a thorough introduction to a wide range of technical and creative skills that they will need to create successful figurative sculptures. Students will work in a range of materials and styles, developing these according to personal preference. The course helps students to acquire both traditional and contemporary figurative sculpture skills, whilst encouraging individuals to develop their own sculptural language.
A one-year course for those wanting to go on to study art or design at a higher level. This course develops students’ skills, creativity, conceptual and critical understanding. Students also focus on developing a strong portfolio that will give them a good chance of achieving a place at a sought-after University. Study time is three tutored days a week at the Academy and at least 1 further day developing individual project work.
Our Certificate Course is ideal if you’re serious about developing your abilities, but have limited time. Studying for one day a week over two years (or two days a week over one year), students focus on one of four disciplines: Painting, Drawing, Sculpture or Printmaking. A structured course culminating in a graduate show, you join the Academy community and extra free classes at weekends and evenings, professional opportunities, artists talks, gallery visits, art history lectures, access to storage space and more.
