This course is a simple, creative and relaxed introduction to the basic skills of Drawing. Each session will focus on a different theme, providing a wide range of techniques to raise confidence and enhance visual awareness.
Through various drawing approaches including still life, life drawing and portraiture you will learn to explore and understand line, tone, measurement, texture and composition. There will be a life model in some sessions and students are encouraged to express themselves freely with guidance from the tutor.

This is a great ‘taster’ course and an excellent opportunity to develop skills as well as creativity with your own ideas.
During the course students will explore basic drawing skills as well as more expressive painting and sculpture. The course will also give you a change to paint and sculpt the human figure, before finishing with a taster of printmaking. It is great fun and by the end students will have a learnt a whole range of different skills.

Understanding the structure of the human figure and the way it’s situated within a space is an essential practice for anyone keen to develop their drawing and observational skills. This course is designed for those who have either completed our ‘Drawing for Beginners’ course or already have some experience of drawing and want to take their skills further. You will cover drawing from observation, memory and imagination; giving you a chance to develop skills and understanding of drawing. Each week will focus on a particular aspect of drawing, in order for students to gain confidence with a variety of subject matters, including life drawing, still life, and urban landscape. We will explore different approaches and materials in order to develop a visual vocabulary and language. There will be opportunities to work both inside and outside the studio, and in museums and galleries.

This 4-week course is a wonderfully relaxing way to end the week and develop drawing and creative skills for beginners and advanced drawers. The class will visit a different museum or gallery each week and students will draw from sculpture and painting across all genres.
